On Alignment simulates a hyperspeed journey curated by algorithmic suggestion, moving through a dreamlike montage of mid-century media and contemporary technology. Viewers encounter nostalgic visions of postwar consumerism alongside the quiet encroachment of AI into everyday life. Referencing old films, advertisements, and home footage, the work charts machines’ evolution from labour-saving tools to agents of social mimicry. It reflects on how human behaviour is increasingly shaped by algorithmic logic, creating a feedback loop of emotional and communicative automation. Contemplating the advent of mass consumerism in the 1950s and the rise of smart technologies, the dream highlights the tragicomic aspects of our relationship with technological progress. Depicted is an evolution where intelligent systems require humans to imitate machines.
